After Puducherry, the fastest growth in the number of Middle-Class households has been in Tamil Nadu. With the density for the Destitute falling, the share of such households has gone down from 12 per cent in 2015-16 to 11 per cent in 2020-21. Middle Class households have gone up from 28 to 31 per cent, the proportion of Rich households has increased to 4 per cent in 2020-21 from 2.8 per cent in 2015-16.
