Puducherry is one of the country’s average-growth areas. There have been marginal shifts in its income demographics between 2015-16 and 2020-21. The proportion of Destitute households has stagnated at 7 per cent in both periods – 2015-16 and 2020-21, and the proportion of Middle Class has gone up from 33 to 37 per cent.
