The Rural-Urban Split - Telangana

The state carved out from Andhra Pradesh has higher per capita income than its parent, making its income demographics marginally better. So, while Andhra Pradesh has nearly 13.5 per cent of its households in the Destitute category, the figure for Telangana is lower at 9.6 per cent. Andhra Pradesh has 60 per cent of its households in the Aspirer category while Telangana has 50 per cent. There has been little change in the level of urbanisation in the state, which remains at around 46 per cent throughout. While 68 per cent of all Rich in the state live in urban areas (2020-21), the proportion of Destitute households living in urban areas is about 20 per cent.
